I arrived in Laos by boat during a unique time of the year.
Firstly, it was the Chinese New Year. As a result, many citizens of Southeast Asia and China traveled to celebrate the year of the Fire Rooster. In addition, the famous Wat Phou Festival was set to start in mid-February, in Champasak region of Laos, just a short motorbike ride from Pakze.
From Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the North, I eventually found my way as far South as one can go, where only the Mekong River separates Cambodia and Laos.
